This rather grand red brick building was apparently once a private house (presumably without the eating area extension at the rear left). Inside it's a roughly L shaped room with the bar on the left and the large eating area at the rear. Most seating and tables are low and the overall fixtures and fittings are better than average. There is an external area at the front with chunky wooden tables and chairs. It seemed to be doing a roaring food trade on my Tuesday early afternoon visit.
The bar has two sets of six hand pumps which unusually had the left bank devoted to ciders. The right bank had GK IPA & Abbot, Woodforde's Wherry, Shepherd Neame Bishops Finger, St Peter's Flawless and Hook Norton Old Hooky. I went for the Old Hooky (£2.20) which was absolutely first class.
I thought this was a decent Spoons.
