Old Boots left this review about Royal Standard

Traditional looking pub on the outside, partly modernised in the front rooms, there are two rooms on different levels as surprisingly for East Anglia the pub is on a fairly steep hill. Further back is a dining area in more interior decorator style. Decor is partly those awful animal heads on human body portraits. Its a Greene King pub but surprisingly had Taylor’s Landlord on - I didn’t risk it and had GK’s Isle of Ely, a reasonable bitter, the other cask choice was the boys bitter IPA. Traditional furniture in the front rooms on scuffed old boards but going towards the back where the counter is, it gets more wine bar like. Pop over the road to the Drayman’s Son.

A decent GK pub, with GK IPA, GK Prince of Ely and a Skinners Betty Stogs. The interior is in dark timber, which gives it a Jacobean impression. The floors are all boarded throughout and has some comfortable seating areas. It's a well kept pub, but a little on the gloomy side for me.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Royal Standard

Has the sort of town pub facade that makes you want to enter and have a look around. Inside, you find quite a large rectangular bar with further seating areas to front and rear. Side dining area down several steps. Basic furniture and plain decor. As a Green King house, IPA, Ruddles Bitter and Olde Trip (£3.30) from three of five handpumps. (NB - Review dates from August 2012.)

The Royal Standard is a nice old pub that is on a hill.
Once inside there was one large room that was L shaped with a pool table at the back the lounge area was down a few steps, this pub is a Greene King tied house and there were three real ales on the bar we had a drink of Greene King IPA and this was not a bad drink the other beer was Abbot.
This pub seemed quite old inside and it had old style opening hours it closed at 3.00 Saturday afternoon.
