The Cat & Fiddle is a proper estate boozer with a large paved front garden where lots of picnic tables sit behind a waist high wall. Inside is a single roomed bar with banquettes, tables and chairs that sit on a well-trodden black carpet that runs the length of the pub. Lino surrounds the serving counter found along the rear wall where standard keg is available alongside Cruzcampo and Birra Moretti. On the rear wall to the right of the counter is a dartboard and a pool table is found in the left corner. There’s an exposed brick fireplace with a raised plinth on the right-hand wall where a table made from the front of a tractor sits. Live football is advertised, but both televisions were off due to no matches being played during my Monday afternoon visit, but there was some background music. I don’t think this community pub sees many outsiders, but the landlady was very polite, and I wasn’t made to feel unwelcome, but I don’t think I’ll be venturing this way again.
