Situated in a bit of a no-man’s land between Staines and Ashford, the Jolly Butcher is aimed more at the locals more than anyone else in particular. To that end it is a perfectly functional place that ticks the boxes without overstretching itself.
There are 2 bars leading off a front lobby. Both bars are similar in size, approach and décor although the rear bar could be described as slightly more loungey courtesy of a small sofa section. Both bars are carpeted, (too) brightly lit and the focal points seem to be the 6 TV’s I counted between them, all screening football to a fairly sparse audience for a Saturday evening. There is also a large patio and car park to one side.
There were 2 ales available; Doom Bar (£3.20) and London Pride – quality was fine. I have noted that the pub has had past problems customer wise but it didn’t come over as anything particularly unwelcoming or menacing and overall it seems to be a decent enough diversion if passing by albeit there isn't any real reason to make an effort to seek it out.

Two bar community local. Only one ale (the ubiquitous Courage Best) served OK. Friendly staff, but the place desperately needs a lick of paint to get rid of the nicotine stains...in fact it needs entirely gutting. I would struggle to come here if lived down the road.
