A rough old pub that was avoided by most people in Staines who had their own teeth and a regular job. It scared the life out of me, and I've been in my fair share of pubs.

My final visit was recorded thus:

“No real ale, basic but important. Jukebox skipped through the Queen song that was on during my swift half. Premiership footy was on as well, courtesy of some Arab TV channel on a nice widescreen telly but the aspect ratios weren't set properly…and having music PLUS footy on at the same time with the sound up full blast is highly irritating. There were also the same rather dubious-looking characters I remember from previous visits. The front porch was grotty and litter-strewn.”

I guess it suffered by being on the wrong side of the railway bridge but it really was the architect of its own downfall.
