This large pub has to be the first that I have encountered that shares its building with a children’s soft play centre. There are also some toy grab arcade machines in the pub and an adventure playground in the large garden at the rear. Looking at the set up I came to the conclusion that this is a family dining pub that is probably best avoided by drinkers that are averse to school children. To the left of the entrance there is an over eighteens section which houses a projector screen, but I didn’t see any advertisements for Sky Sports and even if there was this isn’t really the place to go with the lads to watch a match.
A standard draught range was available alongside a couple of hand pumps that were dispensing Directors during my recent Wednesday lunchtime visit. I found the barman to be friendly and I enjoyed a well poured Guinness which didn’t break the bank.
This isn’t a pub that I would go to on my own again, but if I ever find myself driving through the area with kids in tow I would definitely visit this pub as there is plenty to keep them occupied.
