A town centre pub that many people miss due to its location in a very quiet part of town. This is a reasonably decent old style pub despite there being no real ale. Inside is a fairly well decored pub. Friendly clientele. The pub looks a bit rough from the outside and the language can be industrial but its an ok place.

You can not Judge a book by its cover springs to mind looks like a s--t house from the outside but how wrong you can be very well decorated inside very clean and nice people well worth a visit

Looking more than a bit unloved on the outside, it is a splendid Victorian back street pub, the inside is done out in modern broad tongue and groove although a nice but plain victorian interior is probably hiding underneath. Traditionally furnished with Britannia tables and bench seats, there is a pool table at the back of the L shaped bar, plus games machines, and a jukebox. Full of happy, chatting, middle aged working men and a sweary landlady when I called in, obviously more than fulfilling its job as a good local. Mainly kegs from the former Bass empire, note the Bass lamp over the side door, there is a single handpull but the ale had just run out when I arrived.
