Full marks here, what a beautiful pub, and a long overdue visit, as we'd made a few attempts in the past to get here. Claims to be the oldest pub in Lancashire, dating from 1320. You enter into the bar area, with the small bar in the left hand corner. There's a seating area here with an open fire, a further seating area at the rear with a woodburning stove. There's 2 more small rooms, one at the end with a piano, another stove and paintings of the pub. This is carpeted, beams, low ceilings and horse brasses throughout too. 3 handpumps serving Titanic Plum Porter, Otter Bitter & Wye Valley HPA. They open at 10am every day and serve bacon and egg barms. I was there at 11am and it was far too early for a beer, so I had one of the barms with a very good coffee. Best barm I've had for years, delicious. They had a fire here a few years back and there was extensive damage to the thatched roof, thankfully it's all looking good now. This is a must visit if you like traditional proper pubs. Oh and the toilets are housed in an old block outside the pub.

As old as the hills. Nice country pub though basic decor. Real ales available.
