Old Boots left this review about Monroe
Rather elegant dining pub just this side of being a restaurant. One long room with the bar counter down one side and a formal dining room beyond, a second dining area is located to the left on entering the building. The bar area is equipped with bench seating, stools and tables in pub fashion. Tasteful décor with a few nice sailing ship pictures, the place being named after an american ship called the Monro. Stone and parquet floor, pastel shades and candles everywhere completing the not unpleasant modern look. Other customers were mainly 30 to 50 somethings. Beer choice is from the Marstons stable, Ringwood and Brakspears ales on the four pumps plus the smooth from Jennings, standard kegs from Guinness, Peroni, Stella, and Fosters. The ale was much too cold but I didn't detect any problems when it warmed up a little, but it was probably still too cold to taste properly. Pleasant enough to dine there in mixed company but not really a drinking venue of any note.
