Pretty quiet with only a few punters in on my Monday afternoon visit. It was still a bit loud music wise though. As with all the pubs around here it's happy hour from 11 - 6 so you get loads of scrotes in for the cheap beer. Surprisingly there's a handpump which was offering Theakstons Quencher, but as everyone else was drinking lager I swerved it. It's not a favourite beer of mine, like most Theakstons these days. Claims to be the "Famous Grapes", no idea what it's supposed to be famous for, probably something to do with The Beatles, but it's certainly not the best Grapes in Liverpool that accolade belongs to the one on Roscoe Street. It's a non-descript one roomer which is probably a nightmare at weekends.

It seems to get louder and louder in here as it becomes a kind of Beatle themed quasi-nightclub. quite nicely done out inside in Heineken’s last refurb but it can’t make up for the raucous clientele, ear piercing noise and lack of real ale. the White Star is the only option around here now and even then, only midweek.

If you ignore the hen/stag party crowd at the weekend, this is a lively pub for a weekend drink in the city, Saturday afternoon Karaoke is one of the best, not just the "semi pro" singers showing off but plenty of non singers, so entertaining, you may have to stand though , as seats fill quickly.

Can get very busy here with the Beatle tourists, so if you want a good look round I recommend an early doors visit. Two handpumps, only one in operation on this visit, dispensing Flying Scotsman.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Grapes
Part of the tourist trail in the Cavern Quarter, I was expecting to find the place full of Japanese Beatles fans. However, I actually found a mostly older clientele listening to rap music... Traditional furniture and decor. Two handpumps, offering Directors and Caledonian Flying Scotsman (£1.05, half) when I stopped by briefly.

A pub with many Beatles associations as it's so near the site of the Cavern Club, the back room is a mini shrine to the Fab Four. Entering through either the main door or one of the french doors you are in a wide room with the bar counter set back to the left, there is more of this room behind also served by the bar counter and the Beatles memorial room beyond that. To the left is another long room. All the rooms are similar in style, traditional furnishings with panelling or tongue and groove, topped with cream walls decorated with lots of photos and prints of old Liverpool etc. There are nice open fires in a couple of the rooms. The usual screens and machines typical of a city centre pub, with one of those mysterious abbreviations - ITYIYBMAP - on one of the few wooden beams between rooms. A choice of Greene King IPA or Courage Directors on the handpumps plus Mann's Chestnut, Fosters, 1664, Guinness, John Smith Smooth and Strongbow keg drinks. Not nearly as unpleasant as some pubs and bars in this part of Liverpool, the professional staff get to serve a wide range of customers from all parts of Merseyside and the rest of the world.

Traditional pub with friendly staff offering a great day or night out to all ages with live entertainment every night. Open until 2am weekdays and 3am Friday Saturday & Sunday Hot & cold food or snacks. Smoking solution at the rear of the pub, go and see for yourself how the old fashioned art of conversation has been revived. Nice & simple bench style seating area within this heated shelter so you can enjoy your drinks and smoke in private rather than standing on display at the front door
