I liked this pub very much. Very similar to the "Briton's Protection" in Manchester (without receiving the same fame!) with its public bar at the front and serving hatches at the rear for its two comfortable well upholstered rooms. The Black Sheep beer was on good form. There is another cask beer which I have forgotten. The pub was very busy early Saturday evening after the nearby local football match. I would also like to return at a quieter time to view the inside more fully.

A fairly decent pub, without being great. Its basically 3 rooms/areas with 2 rooms at the rear. Not the greatest choice of beers as the 2 real ales that were on were fairly standard nationals (Black Sheep and Bombardier on my last visit). That said its a nice enough pub and it seems to have some history to it.

Mostly known by the locals as the Bug and Bite. There's so many different tales to this so I won't go there. Its definitely OK now so you won't come out scratching. This well kept Edwardian pub consists of a front bar or snug and two rear lounges. You are served through hatches when visiting the lounges. A very comfortable pub this one, well worth a look. On handpump two from Cains, Black Sheep.
