In a previous life this used to be the Swinging Sporran with Kilties nightclub below. I used to visit it on a regular basis and could tell many tales about the goings on of 30 years ago. It's now called the Retro Bar and the carpet was certainly retro. It may be the same carpet that was in the Sporran it's so threadbare. It was always a bit of a dive bar with loads of characters. Sadly the characters weren't in the bar this time, if they're ever. There's a pool table and a quiz machine, but not much else. 4 handpumps on the bar but they're not used, so I had to have half of fizz. Apparently it's one of the bars they use in Cold Feet, no idea why. My memory has just been sold (J Geils Band), Never Go Back (Lee Child). I should have listened to them!! I'll never be able to think of the Sporran again without a shudder with regards to what's happened to it.
