The Roebuck has banquette seating either side of the central front entrance with the addition of a DJ booth to the left. There’s open plan seating up the middle to some raised seating at the rear and the serving counter runs up the rear of the left-hand wall, standard and premium keg were available during a recent midweek early evening visit. Televisions throughout were airing muted Racing TV and some slow 80s music was playing in the background. The music was actually cranked up just as I’d finished knocking back my half of generic lager so I was glad to get out.

A pleasant, well kept pub. One room which extends back to a raised area. 3 handpumps on the bar but only one on dispensing a topical beer from Tetleys called Three Lions. You can sit outside on the pavement and watch the shoppers come and go. Very reasonable prices too.

Now back to its original name (nearly) but there's been very little change otherwise. There's one main room with a raised area and there's a smaller room to the right as you enter. All the TVs, and there's quite a few of them were tuned to Racing UK and most of the punters were watching them. I'm guessing that the nearby bookies does pretty well out of the regulars here. There's no real ale of course, so I had a half of something fizzy for which I handed over very little cash. This probably explains why it was very busy on a Friday afternoon. There's quite a pleasant atmosphere in here and most of the mainly older clientele seem to know each other. It's one of the better pubs in the centre of Middleton, which is damning with faint praise to be honest.
