This pub was originally a very large Victorian house in its own grounds. The grounds are now mainly a car park. The internal space has been cleverly utilised to create a very pleasant pub. It majors on dining, but there are several area for drinkers and you can use any table that isn't reserved. There's a small room to the left of the entrance which has a fire and is very nicely done. The rest of the pub is on two levels to create lots of nooks and crannies. There's a further area and bar downstairs called the Cellar Bar, but this was being used for a wedding reception during my visit. The clientele seemed to be mainly middle class over 40's. There are 5 handpumps on the bar with 3 clipped on my Friday evening visit. Black Sheep Ember Gold was in good nick and Ember Inns offer a 20p CAMRA discount which was well advertised at the bar. Way better than I expected, in fact I was quite impressed. I'll definitely visit again if in this neck of the woods.
