The Britannia Inn has a central tile floored bar area with an island serving counter that supports standard and premium keg alongside three hand pumps, one of which was on drawing JW Lees Bitter, which isn’t surprising as this is one of their pubs. To the left of the bar area is a tartan carpeted lounge area with a mix of tables, banquettes and sofas. To the right of the bar is some bar seating and in the rear is a pool table and dartboard. I asked the friendly barmaid for half a San Miguel, but she gave me a taster of the brewery’s Manchester Craft which I actually liked so I changed my mind to keep it local. I liked the atmosphere from the people, but the likes of Genesis and Elton John singing Sacrifice fairly early on a weeknight was a bit much. I’d pop back in if passing when hopefully someone with a more upbeat musical taste has put the tunes on.

A nice enough pub. As noted it has an island bar but it now has 3 handpumps of which just 2 dispensed JW Lees MPA and Bitter. After a short wait while the barmaid changed a lightbulb the beer was fine. A beer garden is to the rear, beyond a pool table and dartboard.

Lees pub with an unusual island bar. The two rooms either side of the bar are effectively two lounges. There's a further area at the rear with a dartboard. There's some good looking murals on the walls and it looks like a comfortable pub. Whilst I was there the light over the dartboard failed. How many bar staff does it take to change a lightbulb. Answer: ALL of them!! After a bit of messing about the landlady herself decided that she would go to the local Tesco to get a replacement. Bad decision. This left a totally clueless pair of barstaff to run the pub. Within 3 minutes of her leaving they were running about like headless chickens. Why one of the numpties wasn't sent to get a lightbulb I will never know. Two handpumps on the bar, both badged with Lees Bitter. My beer was very average but the floorshow was great. If they're like this all the time I'll have to come back and watch their antics again.
