Proper Pub. Well kept Greene King Ales. Proper atmosphere.

GK beers IPA, Abbot, but also Fireside - a new one to me. Quite busy and chatty Sat pm, studenty clientele. Pleasant & comfortable enough but where were those guest beers?

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Champion Of The Thames
Proper pub, and just far enough away from the city centre to retain a fine 'local' atmosphere. Thankfully the place offers a couple of guest beers as an alternative to the Greene King stuff.

Pleasant, lively and welcoming, GK ales but the guest was Tom Wood Bomber County, a strong characterful brew. Shrouded in scaffolding last night we feared the worst but open and flourishing. A warm and comfortable single space with the bar ahead. Carpeted, bar stools and traditional seating. Football on tv but not to the detriment of conversation etc. We fell quickly into conversation with a few locals. Certainly worthy of inclusion in any Cambridge crawl.

The Champion of the Thames is a smallish pub in a nice area of Cambridge.
This pub is a Greene King tied house, once inside this was a proper pub and it was the sort of pub i like going in there were there real ales on here with two on the bar and one in a barrel i had a drink of Greene King XX mild and this was very nice there was also GK IPA on the bar and the Abbot was in a barrel.
I was quite happy having a drink in here as this was such a nice pub.
