This pub dates from the late 19th century but was rebuilt in 1954; the Watney’s regalia was removed when the original Princess Alexandria name was reinstated in 2018, the current moniker dating from just 7th August.
Describing itself as a gastropub, the website displays enticing food, but where it was prepared, I know not, as currently there’s no kitchen; still, you can munch on black truffle crisps. At £7.50 a bag. Otherwise, there’s a slightly posh country dining pub feel about the three-roomed interior: modern boarded floor, bare brick or white walls with dark grey punctuations, shiny white tiled bar back, eclectic trendy prints and mirrors, traditional furniture and enough potted ferns to rewild Kew Gardens; customers were mixed in age, genteel Muswell Hillbillies and Crouch End tigers.
Cask amounted to two unused pumps, then just boring Woodforde’s Wherry at an utterly jaw dropping £3.50 a half; the vastly superior Queen’s served me with an equally vastly superior Redemption’s Kazbek at just £2.45, 15 minutes later.
This place may be good for food – one day – but the Queen’s kicks this place into the long grass, the insulting ale price costing this place at least 1 point.

I went in here very early evening and it was pretty boring so I finished my Guinness and left. I passed it later on the way home and heard some music so I decided to have another look. I wished I hadn't bothered as it was so loud I couldn't hear myself think and when I tried to escape to the seating out the front I was informed by one of the bouncers that no drinks were permitted to leave the building.
If you are a pretentious twenty something out for a night of being jostled from pillar to post whilst waiting an inordinate amount of time sweating at the bar, you'll love it here on a weekend night.
