. Wittenden left this review about The Blue Ball Inn
A mid terrace nineteenth century pub on the outskirts of this popular village, opposite the famed Grantchester Meadows. Listed in Camra’s Heritage Inventory as being of historical importance, the pub comprises two small bars to the front; panelling, bench seating, with a further room leading to a garden area, complete with barn containing a TV and piano.
Busy when we arrived on a surprisingly pleasant February Saturday lunchtime, the efficient and friendly manager found room for us in one of the little front rooms, where we enjoyed beers from Barsham, both in good nick, together with some proper pub food.
Given the location I was rather expecting some over blown ye olde village pub, but this was the real thing: our dog was made welcome, as were our vegetarians.
