No cask, two handpumps used as tethers for the collection boxes. Keg was basic, Guinness, Madri, Fosters, Coors, Inch's cider and the dark fruits SB, Moretti and Stella.
Quite large roadside pub with ample parking to the side. Inside it was U shaped with the bar counter along one side and the bottom of the U! There was stool seating at the bar counter. Venue largely bare boarded but entry side from the car park had a stone walkway to the bar counter. Couldn't investigate that side much as there was a function ongoing, but I noticed it was wood panelled and had nice window view to the garden out the back. To the right of that entrance was a continuation of the wooden wall panelling around a fire grate and a nice seating area around with regular tables and a leather banquette under the window looking out onto the main road outside. The other side of the bar counter had tiled walls, a fitted fabric banquette under the roadside windows, regular tables and chairs and a pool table at the rear of the area. Quite a few TV screens showing the tennis and an unobtrusive soundtrack being played in the background. The beer garden at the back was partly paved and partly grass, with traditional picnic tables and a bouncy castle that gives a clue as to the target audience here. Sort of venue that would be benefit from some decent beer choices!

There seems to be some suggestion that this pub dates from just 1950, but I think that this must be a substantial brewers’ Tudor joint, probably dating from the 1930s and giving every appearance of being a stealth Greene King outlet.
The floor is part flagstone, with a brewers’ Tudor interior and rather fine baronial fireplace, the natural wood three-quarter height field panelling probably modern. With hardly any – and very blokey – customers at the time of my near 10.00pm Friday visit, the place looked empty, cavernous even and with the likes of burgers and Sunday roasts, certainly not a gastropub: ‘The Kitch at the Cav’?
With two unused pumps, there’s no cask and despite a fair wait, there was no barman either.
The website claims ‘It's all about our customer service and welcoming new people into The Cavalier’. This wasn’t the experience of the most recent reviewer – 2010 – on BITE who mentions that they were ignored and left; I suffered the same fate, waiting at the bar for someone to appear, but on balance, leaving was probably the best course of action.

London Pride & Black sheep were the only Real Ales I see on tap when I went in. It seemed too lack that real Pub feel It used too have years ago long gone are the dart board and TVs and two bars. Now its too much food orientated for me and feels like drinking in a licenced restaurant I had one Pint and left as it was full of Kids running around making it feel like a Mc-Donald's only thing missing was a Happy Meal.

This is a family orientated gastro pub with very friendly staff and a nice beer garden.
Pride, Summer Lightening and Adnams were all available alongside standard and premium lagers. Unfortunately my Pride was on the turn, but the Adnams was very nice.
I wouldn't return here just for a beer, but I'm sure that I'll take the family up for a meal at some point in the future.
