Moby Duck left this review about The Village

A community pub with an open but long interior with a modern traditional feel and a mix of seating throughout. Five pumps on the bar, Robinsons Dizzy Blonde, Courage Directors, Theakstons Old Peculiar and Holts Two Hoots along with a Thatchers Cider, the Two Hoots was a little hazy but tasted fine. Nothing particularly special here but worth a look if passing.

The interior is long and narrow but the decor looks a bit tatty ,the furniture is well worn and it's not shabby chic.Towards the rear is a lower snug ,on the way to the beer garden.Rugby was being aired on the flatscreens bringing in a decent number of punters and there was a friendly chatty service from behind the bar. There were four real ales Deuchars IPA, Charles Wells DNA,Adnams Broadside and Southwold Bitter (very tired). At the front there was a large fridge of craft beers which might be more popular than the mundane ale selection. We settled at the front into leather seating so worn it was difficult to extract yourself, although the nearby woodburner did offer some compensation.
Well used by locals, and free of gastro makeover ,quizzes on two nights just a shame more flair isnt shown on ale selection but maybe it's owned by a pubco and that the reason.

The Village is a decent looking pub from the outside,it is just along the road from the Queens Arms.
Once inside there is a long narrowish room which runs to the rear, there is some bench seating to the front all in use,the other seating is worn out settees to the front left, these were very uncomfortable, the floor is bare boarded.
There were four real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Charles Wells DNA which was a decent drink, the other beers were Adnams Bitter/ Broadside and Deuchars IPA.
The pub seemed a bit shabby but it was very busy on a Saturday dinner visit so the locals must like it here.

Although this is a relatively new (1989) pub it does appear to have a proper cellar as the metal hatch doors are immediately outside the front door. If it is a shop conversion they have made a better job of disguising the fact than most.
It's a lot more comfortably furnished than I recall from years ago and there is a new room at the far rear of the pub.
What let it down on my visit was the drab selection of beers, Adnam's Broadside and Southwold Bitter, Belhaven Grand Slam, Deuchar's IPA and Cottage Duchess. I went for the Cottage Duchess (£3.60) which was a mediocre beer in average condition.
Maybe I visited it on an off day, but with a beer selection as mainstream as that I wouldn't return which is a shame as it's a pleasant enough pub. There are much better options in Walthamstow nowadays.

Appropriately named being in the heart of Walthamstow Village, this pub seemed much the same as when Steve was in there a few months ago. The ale selection was just as good with Adnam's Broadside, Deuchars IPA, Crouch Vale Essex Boys, and something from Crouch Vale (didn't note the beer unfortunately) all on. There's a separate sandwich menu with offerings at around the £5 mark, and the main menu is essentially pub grub with staples such as bangers & mash, and steak & ale pie at £8.95 and £9.25 respectively. The all day breakfast is £7.95.

The pub has the look of a shop conversion, but it's clearly been extended considerably to the rear. Some money has been spent in the refurbishment, with furnishings comprising some leather sofas and armchairs, good quailty wooden chairs and tables - but no tall tables and tall stools which is a big plus. It's got a bit of the Nicholson's pub about it, but that's no bad thing. There were TVs on, but muted in the 'spoons way. There was some pop music playing, but not too loudly thankfully. There's a quiz night advertised for Tuesdays, free wi-fi, and a sign outside says it's dog friendly, although there were no mutts present when I was in. This is a nice enough pub and definitely worth dropping in for a pint if you happen to be in Walthamstow Village, but overall I think it's a little too "corporate looking" for my taste. A decent enough pub nonetheless.

Steve of N21 left this review about The Village

The Village Pub is situated on Orford Road, in the heart of Walthamstow Village. It underwent a bit of an internal makeover a couple of years ago to keep in with the increasing gentrification of the surrounding Walthamstow Village area and, although I cannot comment on whether this was positive or negative as I had never visited before, the current incarnation is still pretty good and it looks like they have avoided the trap of becoming a bland Gastro pub and, although clearly a modern interior, it still has enough of a traditional feel about it.
Internally it is mainly one open space with a wooden floor by the bar section with bar stools and a couple of tables against the far wall opposite the bar, and then carpeted seating sections either side of the main entrance as you enter and then in the larger space beyond the bar. Then there is a separate smaller snug type room at the back with a good collection of period black & white photos of Walthamstow. And outside there is a large paved seating area with one section under a permanent roof and the rest under umbrellas.
The food menu is more traditional pub menu than gastro and we had a couple of the light options from the lunchtime menu which were perfectly fine.
As well as having Peroni, Kronenbourg, and Erdinger on draught, it is a Free House and there are five Real Ale hand pumps on the bar. Deuchars and Adnams seem to be regular options with Adnams Bitter and Broadside and Deuchars IPA being on for our visit. But then the other two were from smaller local breweries with Hound Dog from the Growler Brewery and the local Hackney Brewery Best Bitter.
All the ones we tried were well kept and I wouldn’t have any issue for a return visit when next in the locality.
