No cask. Keg offering of Braybrooke Helles, Verdant Light Bulb, something from Lost & Grounded I couldn’t quite pick, Murphy's Stout and Lucky Saint.

Cool first floor bar at the side of a ground floor corner restaurant - entrance door by the overhead sign of a well-fed badger. Up a flight of stairs is a bare boarded venue with dark leather banquettes around the perimeter serving regular tables with small stools the other side thereof. A roaring fire in the far corner added to the ambience of the venue, and the slightly smoky smell. A rip-roaring Oasis soundtrack added to the enjoyment of this quite basic bar.

Originally The Carnarvon Castle, I came here for a pizza in the summer of 2011 as this is now Pizza East in what the company describes as a "...restored Georgian pub...". If it were a restored pub it would serve real ale. I don't know if you can just have a drink here, though I suspect you can, but if so, I won't be tempted to return to this part of the world.

This place should be renamed ‘Up Your Own Backside' and the bar staff shouldn't be allowed within 100 paces of any licensed establishment.

I had to wait an age for the two staff to finish clearing plates and end conversations about what time they finished and what pretentious hole they were going to spend their evening in. My Guinness was poured in one go and had a 2 inch head and my change was nonchalantly dropped onto the bar. I necked my pint and hastily made my way to the exit through a sea of “oh my god's” and “no way's”.

I'm a little embarrassed to admit that I ended up wandering in here, but you can be assured that I will not be making that mistake again.
