The Lord Herbert is another South East London pub which makes an appearance in the 2026 Good Beer Guide. It is a fairly bright pub with bare boards and a central island bar. The area to the right of the bar has what I would describe as collonades, topped with empty gin bottles and trophies. Front windows have a couple of raised seating areas next to the. Walls notably feature many anti-Israel/pro-Palestine posters. There is also some limited outdoor seating.

A TV was showing motor sport with nobody watching, whilst music was playing. The pub hosts live DJs on Saturday evenings. Friday night is vinyl night, when you can bring your own records to play. Quiz nights are hosted on a Monday and there were also open mic nights and Texas Hold 'em nights advertised too. Dogs are allowed in and a wifi password is provided.

Regular cask ales here are Harvey's Sussex Best Bitter & Wye Valley HPA. For my visit, the guest beer was Timothy Taylor Landlord. Craft beers were Brixton Reliance, Salt Alpacalypse & Brooklyn The Stonewall IPA.

The Lord Herbert is a decent looking stand alone pub that is situated at the end of some grotty looking shops.
Once inside the room is square shaped with the bar facing, there is some comfy bench seating to the left with small stools, there is a slight raised area to the front right, the pool table is in a small area to the rear left, the room is carpeted and seemed quite smart in my opinion.
There were two real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Doom Bar which was a decent enough drink, the other beer was Old Speckled Hen.
Decent background music was playing and the pub was quite busy on my Saturday afternoon visit.
This is a decent locals pub that is a lot better than i thought it would be.
