Bucking Fastard left this review about The Angel Oak

Situated at the north apex of Peckham Rye Common, there was a music concert going on in the Rye,so the pub was packed with young music lovers, mainly women. There is a beer terrace to the left front side, with it's own keg temporary bar to cope with the crowds. The interior at the front is stripped out with two wings for seating, the left side a series of seating booths. However further back there is a conservatory room opposite the open kitchen before a vast beer garden rising back and away from the pub. It's a hip joint and the food options were median starters £9,mains £17 with some cheaper smaller options.
Lots of handpumps but none operational so the choice was from 8 craft keg taps and some mainstream fizzy options. My pint of Signature Brew Roadie was £5.80,not too cold or overcarbonated but I really only wanted the one.
Difficult to judge when overwhelmed by the young, but with no real ale,I cant see a compelling reason to return. My previous visit was around 1990 as the Rye,when this was a rough pub and Peckham Rye needed some care to navigate to avoid being mugged. So some improvement has occurred in the meantime.

Rex Rattus left this review about The Rye

There were three ales on when I visited - Adnam's Mosaic, GK IPA, and Truman's Swift (£1.95 a half). There were single sheet menus on all the tables, with nothing much like pub grub on it. There's stuff like "Truffle mac and cheese, chestnut mushrooms, pickled shallots & watercress" for 10.5 (or £10.50 in real money I guess). The "leg of lamb steak, chickpeas, njuda (!?), peppers and salsa verde" is 14.5. I noted a deal available on Thursdays which gave you two bavette steaks and a bottle of Bordeaux for £29.50. No curry and a pint for six quid in here! I didn't eat in here.

I hadn't planned to visit this pub, but walking down from Peckham Rye Station in the pouring rain I decided a refuge stop was due. It's obviously a heavily modernised pub. It's bare-boarded of course with what looks like the original boards, simple and traditional chairs with normal tables in the main, but with some tall tables and tall benches to the left of the servery, and some long tables on the right with a backless wooden bench on one side. At the back there's a conservatory where all the tables were laid for diners, and to the back of that there's a garden. The bar counter looks original (although now painted an off white colour) as does the bar back.

There was a TV on showing some sports channel, and some unnecessary (in my, probably minority, opinion anyway) pop music was banging away. There's a brick built and smoke stained fireplace on the right. My Truman's Swift was fine, but this is not really the sort of pub to which I would return.

Alan Winfield left this review about The Rye Hotel

The Rye is a large looking pub that faces a grassed area where peckham rye road divides into two roads.
Once inside there was a large room with the bar facing this room wrapped around the bar,the seating was a mix of normal tables and chairs and chesterfield settees, there was an area to the rear which was up a few steps this area was oblonged shaped with normal tables and chairs.
There were four real ales on the bar,i had a drink of London Fields Love Not War which went down well, the other beers were Gk IPA / Abbot and a beer from Trumans which was called Swallow or something like that.
The pub was very busy with people dining in the front area of the pub.
This was a decent enough pub to have a drink in.
