The best part of this pub is the exterior glazed tiling to this inter war years pub at a busy road junction. There is a beer terrace out front, the interior has been opened out except for a section to the left under an arch which has a series of seating booths. The main body of the pub has a wooden floor,a long green leather bench along the long side,a mix of high and small tables and an open kitchen.
The bar back is dominated by a chandelier covered in feathers, opposite which there is a brick fireplace with a drop down screen on mute waiting for the Cup Final. The most noteable feature however was the heavy base soundtrack which would make your dentures rattle. The food options were caribbean themed, jerk chicken and so on.
Of course no real ale,so the best option seemed from Beavertown with Gamma Ray expensive at £4 the half.I was the oldest customer by a factor of 40 years, leave it to the young who have no idea of what a good pub should be like.

This pub has now reverted to its original name following a brief stint as the Doll’s House. That’s a positive step I would say. There was just the one handpump with a Deuchars IPA clip reversed. The barman did check that it was off, suggesting that it might be available at other times. That left a choice of plenty of keg stuff, and I went for an IPA called Caledonian Coast to Coast (£2.30 a half). There was some other lessusually stuff like Theakston’s Peculiar IPA. I didn’t see a menu, but I was in shortly after they opened at 5.0 PM, so was probably too early for the kitchen to have opened – but I could smell something cooking.
This must once have been an interesting pub, but alas no longer. The exterior is painted black, and just about everything inside is painted black as well – walls, floor, ceiling, bar counter front leaving just some pine furniture and sofas to give a bit of light relief from the depressing interior. But perhaps a lot of people like pubs that have had their guts ripped out of them, and good luck to them I say. But not for me I’m afraid.
