This is a mid-19th century pub which until around 2012, had spent some time as a Nigerian bar called Miliki Spot, which seems to be the name of an exclusive club in Lagos.
This is an extremely basic pub indeed: Céad Míle Fáilte to the window (despite being about as Irish as Joe Biden) modern bare boarded floor, modern bar back, burgundy roller blinds, books on shelves and plenty of pot plants, off-white Anaglypta, silent snooker to two modest TVs, wood clad columns painted grey, traditional furniture or cloth upholstered banquettes. A pool table dominates proceedings and the dartboard was being well used at the time of my Saturday 9.25pm visit, by students whose common room this effectively doubles as; one old bloke was spotted in a corner.
There’s no cask unsurprisingly, so it was a half of Guinness at £2.50, served by a fun old-school landlady.
Due in large part to the engaging landlady, this place is marginally better than the Golden Goose – though hardly slays it – but the Black Prince and Old Red Lion are close at hand; head south-east and you’ve got the Hermits Cave.

What an interesting pub to be in and mingle with the Nigerian community. The Nigerians at Miliki have been always very polite & friendly, giving a warm welcome. I specially love the food in there, great taste of Nigerian food at a resonable price. I will be at Miliki this coming Friday (1st October) to wish everyone there a Happy Nigerian Independence Day along with introducing my friends into the establishment for a social evening... The Miliki Spot has been as a Nigerian Pub for a good number of years now, before that it was called the Claredon Arms which was a usual local English Pub
