There seems to have been an improvement in terms of ale range here from the two banks of 5 handpumps on the ground floor,with no doubling up of the Abbott,Ruddles Bitter etc .The 5 handpumps upstairs serve the same beers as available downstairs.It's still a drinking barn,but getting better.

Worth popping in to view the elaborate interior,this JDW is a vertical drinking barn with multiple fruit machines and tastless furniture spoiling the grandure.The large banner crowing about their entry in the 2010 Good Beer Guide is a misnomer,invariably the ale range is limited to the usual suspects Pedigree,Courage Best,Ruddles,etc with few genuine guest ales.Beer quality can also be variable.I have to admit using their gents(and not buying a beer) when at Liverpool Street station rather than fumbling about for 30p in change to use the station facilities.Sorry Tim.
UPDATE
The refurb has made a big difference and has restored grandeur to the building.Gone are the bookcases ,replaced by an impressively large mirror.Thorough upgrade to the paint scheme,the interior is now worth a visit alone.New lavs ,with the former gents now converted to a quiet seating areas with booths,away from the main hubbub.Well done to all concerned,higher rating warranted.

Closed on 19th October for a six-week refurbishment, which will hopefully mean they fix the ceiling and the scaffolding that has been a feature for months will go.

Located inside a former hotel ballroom, the Hamilton Hall is a particularly decorative and spacious Wetherspoons pub, forming part of the Liverpool Street station buildings. The scale of the room, with its large open area around the servery and high ceilings, certainly creates the feel of a drinking barn, but this is at odds with the ornate interior which boasts a number of large ornamented wall paintings and a most impressive ceiling with huge candelabras and all manner of decorative touches. Two principal seating areas exist on the ground floor, with the left hand side of the room practically filled with tables and chairs (and scaffolding on my recent visit), whilst a more modest strip of seating runs along the front windows. To the right of the bar, a staircase leads up to a surprisingly large gallery with a part tile, part carpet floor. There’s plenty of comfortable seating available and I thought it was quite a nice spot, especially if you can get a view overlooking the bar below.
There is a bar upstairs, which has a limited number of hand pumps, but it’s best to order at the main bar before moving upstairs, as there are ten hand pumps there which were offering five or six guest ales and a real cider, plus a few ‘Spoons regulars on my visit. I tried the Adnams Kristal White (£3.10), which was decent enough and contrary to some of the experiences noted below, I found the staff to be pretty efficient as far as ‘Spoons staff go.
The grand interior singles this place out above the masses of identikit Wetherspoons pubs up and down the country. I’m not convinced that there is a stand-out pub near Liverpool Street station, so the Hamilton Hall is certainly worth a look on occasion when passing through the area.

Rather more interesting - decor-wise - inside than out, and worth visiting for that alone if waiting for a train at Liverpool Street station. Usually has a fair selection of beers from the 10 handpumps, with offerings such as the decent Wickwar Station Porter available at £3.05 and the quality usually good. However, the service can be variable and as you would expect - given its location - it has a very transient atmosphere.

Below average 'spoons - you've got to be thirsty to wait here for a drink. Service poor and beer below average.

Opens early if you fancy a livener. Usually pop in en route to White Hart Lane as a starting point for the days onslaught of ale.

Good Beer Guide 2010 listed pub at the entrance to Liverpool Street. Open plan with a mezzanine, its highly decorative as below but suffers slightly from the Wetherspoons treatment, but its ok

This is a Wetherspoons located in a very impressive hall, as the name would suggest and previous reviews have mentioned. There is room for hundreds of drinkers at the two bars and there is also some seating out the front next to one of the entrances to Liverpool Street Station. One of the plasma screens on the left hand side wall was off, but the other was showing live departure times for those grabbing a quick pint after a long day at work. I counted ten hand pumps on the main bar and six of these were duplicated on the upstairs bar. As usual for JDW there are drinks promotions and the food is very cheap for the area.
There are much better pubs across the road, but it is worth popping in here for a look at the setting and décor.

This Wetherspoon’s is named after Lord Claud Hamilton, who was chairman of the Great Eastern Railway Company in the 1900’s who originally built Liverpool Street station.
It is the former ballroom of the old Great Eastern Hotel, which is where the fantastic interior décor comes from.
But to be frank that’s the only thing that is fantastic about the HH.
Yes, the beer choice is usually very good but in my experience the quality is a lot closer to hit and miss than excellent.
The food is the usual Spoon’s menu , which has been OK on the couple of times I’ve eaten here.
The service is laissez-faire at best ,
And it never seems to have any atmosphere, irrespective of the size of the throng..
But in saying that there were plenty of people in on this Sunday lunchtime munching on the roasts and I couldn’t fault the pint of Ringwood Fortyniner I had.
So I would recommend it as a handy place to meet before moving on, if you have a short period of time before a departing train. But otherwise, there are much better establishments a short walk away on Bishopsgate.

Excellent beer and food,toilets leave a bit to be desired,very smelly and run down.On last visit 03/08/09 toilets had been refurbished to a high standard
