Visited 20/05/26. Visited 19/02/18 for ticking purposes but visited many times before and revisited many times since!

Cask offering of Thornbridge Jaipur, Big Chief IPA from Redemption, Mayflower Session IPA from Southwark Brewing Co, Doom Bar, Abbot and GK IPA. Keg offering of Worthington CF, Stella, Bud Light, Carlsberg, Leffe Blonde, Budweiser, Corona, Coors, original and dark fruits SB, Carling, Guinness, BrewDog Punk IPA, the Sumo APA from Mad Squirrel, the Easy IPA from Seven Brothers, Shipyard Pale Ale, Angelo Poretti, K1664, Stowford Press.

Balcony level with plenty of seating around the outside space with views over the station. Inside the glass fronted venue both sides it is bare boarded around the bar counter which is just inside the entrance and the rest of the venue is carpeted. A mix of regular and tall tables and some studded leather banquettes around the inside walls. The other side is similar, but I have always seemed to find myself on the “higher platforms” side of the venue! Not surprisingly furiously busy and always has been every visit over the years. I love it as a station pub as I regularly travel between London and Sussex from the station. There are way better JDW venues with way more character and larger cask offerings, but it just works for me as a pit stop before travelling.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Wetherspoons (JD Wetherspoon)

It's a Wetherspoons. It's a station pub. You should know what to expect. That said, it is rather better than one might imagine, and usually has a good selection of cask ale too, often with one or two beers from a Sussex brewery, but featuring five festival ales - including my Mauldon's Black Berry Porter (£3.65) - in addition to the standard Greene King IPA, Doom Bar and Abbot from the two banks of six handpumps on this visit. Whilst the transient atmosphere and inevitable peak-hour crowding leave much to be desired, you can usually get a breather out on one of the terraces which overlook Victoria's hustle and bustle from first-floor level.

Dating from 1992, Wetherspoons is a branch of the J. D. Wetherspoon chain and as mentioned, was subject to a refurbishment dating from last year.
Thanks to its eagle’s nest location, you get a commanding view of commuters from the upper terrace, desperately trying to find their platform, given the appalling signage, but otherwise it’s quite smart with no surprises, other than that tables are rather close together making access a little difficult.
A good half of Jaipur was £2.65, served by an efficient barmaid.
This is better than the average ‘spoons, but in an area with a dreadful choice of pubs, this place has the best cask selection outclassed only by Cask, but at best it’s purely functional. Then there's the prices...

Surprisingly large and nicely furnished (very recent – WhatPub says extension and full refurb took place in early 2024) JDW in the upper tier of a classic 80s building, located in the upper concourse and originally opened in 1992. Blue and white tiling, nice Art Deco style lamps along with people watching views via the two outside balconies overlooking the station. There are screens to keep you informed of the train arrivals and departures, always a welcome bonus. Three guest cask on my visit with ELB Cowcatcher a bit fag-end (NBSS 2.5) and close to a fiver. Useful to know it exists and if there’s an excuse to pop in for 15 minutes in future, I likely will. Note that the alcohol licence allows retail sale from 8am and that British Transport police sometimes close the bar when football fans are due through the station. 6.5

This 'spoons is smack bang in the middle of Victoria Station, on what is known as the upper concourse. There's plenty of outside seating on a veranda surrounding the pub, but not so much seating inside. On Friday morning it was too cold outside unless you kept your coat on, and too hot inside. Mrs R said that it was "quite warm" inside, which translates into English as bakingly hot. But some like it hot - or so Marilyn would have us believe.

In most respect this place is like most 'spoons, but I did notice the absence of the all day brunch from the menu, and the prices were a bit on the high side by 'spoons standards, with the traditional breakfast at £5.25 whereas in a suburban 'spoons it would be £3.60. But still good value. Due to its location this one is busy all the time, with no tables available inside the hothouse masquerading as a pub at 11.00 AM.

Having said all that, it's easily the best place for a drink at Victoria Station.

A well run Spoons this one, which on our visit was well staffed and the service was good. We went for the Six Point Brewery from Brooklyn, which was part of the Spoons Festival and I have to say it was a very good beer at £3.46.

Far better than the Willow Walk. Two bars selling different real ales. I had Ringwood Old Thumper which was fine. Well lit place overlooking the station.

Modern first floor fit out. Some tiling on show, presumably part of the original station building, but basically its a functional station cafe.

Update 18th January 2014

It is currently closed for a refurb and is due to reopen in Early February.

Visit 16th June 2013
This place is much better than it appears from the station concourse. It looks more like a seedy Soho Strip joint from below, but inside it is fairly typical Spoons fixtures and fittings. It is actually a lot smaller than most of their outlets. The two outside balconys overlooking the station make a fine place to sit with a beer while reflecting on what all the people below may be up to.

The prices are astronomical (for a Spoons), the lowest guest ale being £3.35 a pint. This is £1.20 more than their cheapest outlets, but unusually the GK Abbot is only 10p more than this. I expect that Network Rail takes a fair cut of their profits.

I've stopped here on many occasions, but that has always been early on a Saturday Morning waiting for a train down to Sussex, so today was the first time I had a beer. They nearly always have a full selection which includes some interesting ones.
Today I tried the Portobello Market Porter at £3.35 which was in excellent condition as you should expect from a GBG listed place. It makes a welcome retreat from the chaos on the concourse below.

One thing that I wondered about it is how on earth do the beer and food supplies get delivered? I failed to see any sign of a lift underneath it.

Malden man left this review about Wetherspoons (JD Wetherspoon)

An unimaginatively named, err, Wetherspoons, sitting in an elevated position over the centre of the concourse of Victoria Station. Balconies either side of the internal area offer interesting and changing views of the platforms to one side and the station hall and departure boards to the other. There is always plenty going on, on either side to attract attention. The interior has an un-'spoons like airy feel with lots of glazing including a transparent curved roof, the single room is semi-divided by a brick pillar effectively dividing the bar into two distinct sections. This is relevant for the ale drinker as the two banks of handpumps have different offerings so it is worth looking both sides before choosing. The usual JDW framed historical stuff include some interesting pictures of the construction of the station.
A reasonable selection of guest ales were on however prices don't match the usual for this chain in this location, my pint of Dark Star American Pale Ale, although decent, cost £3.35.
Worth noting also is that the pub toilets are free of charge and do not require a code, unusual for a London terminus.
