I've always thought this octagonal pub looks from the outside like it's going to be really seedy. I finally gave it a go yesterday, and found it surprisingly smart and modern inside, with an island bar round a pillar in the middle, seating round the outside, but what felt to me like a slightly uncomfortable 'no man's land' between the two. It also had more customers than I expected, given that I'd never actually seen anyone going into it. It had no real ale however nor anything I would consider to be appreciable character, and I didn't feel particularly comfortable there, so I didn't stay long. There also is an upstairs room which appears to cover the whole area and hosts gigs, so I daresay this pub has its niche, though I don't think it's for me at all.

Doesn't look much from the outside, but have a visit anyway. Has a semi circular bar, can't find my notes so I'm relying on my memory. Has fruit machines and sells wine, but I don't think sells real ale. from my photo, it is one of those pubs you can't tell if it open or closed.
