Adequately described below, I found this to be a typical JDW with a slightly lower-than-average IQ among the locals. There was a large group of large females screaming in the outside patio area and what appeared to be a group of young males too stupid even to wear a hat in the comfy seating section. The three stock ales, Doombar, Ruddles and Abbot, were hidden away behind a pillar while the guests were more obvious – Hullabaloo, Bamboozle and Forbury Lion from Lodden, Rebellion’s Roasted Nuts, Steam Box Tunnel Vision and Hipster Min from Adnams. A safe bet in this part of the world.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Falcon (JD Wetherspoon)
Superficially attractive 'spoons, beside the Guildhall and housed in a venerable pub building. However, the interior has been partially opened out and given the full semi-traditional makeover that somehow seems out of keeping (although this may be because the ceiling appears to have been lowered at some stage). Also has a fair amount of patio seating to one side. Fair selection of real ales from a total of nine handpumps, including a couple from Red Squirrel - Hopfest and Mr Squirrel (£2.15) - and one each from Loddon, West Berkshire and Windsor & Eton.

This was once a Watney's pub called the Falcon Hotel. It must have been one of JDWs earliest moves away from the Greater London area having opened at the end of 1994. Despite being an original pub the external signage, fixtures & fittings and interior are all typical of Spoons from that era. It's a large room with a bar on the left and an area in the middle officially reserved for people eating, something I've never seen before in a Spoons. It was quite busy on my Friday lunchtime visit.
The small group of hand pumps behind the pillar had the two GK beers and Doom Bore so that's definitely the best place for them.
The bank of six further down the bar had Windsor & Eton Zinzan's Drop & Eton Boatman, White Park White Gold, Purity UBU, Butcombe Gold and Loddon Reading Bitter. I went for the Zinzan's Drop and Reading Bitter (£2.05). Both beers were in first class condition.
I thought this was one of the better Spoons.

The pub seems to have been tidied up a bit since the last few reviews, but it was stiil difficult to see all the hand pumps. The choice of real ales was good for someone like myself visiting the area and my beer was in good condition.

Became a Spoons in the mid-90’s and the faux-Victoriana interior blueprint from that period appears to have seen no refurbishment or care since. Lots of ale available but the two we had were poor - hazy and fairly flat. One of the handpumps was hidden almost squarely behind a supporting pillar behind the bar - stupid. This place felt pretty desperate and we headed off without finishing.

This is one of the few Wetherspoons that was an original pub before being spoonified. There has been an Inn on this site since the 17th Century and if my memory serves me correctly was called the Falcon when I worked in Wycombe in the late 80's.
This means that it has a bit more character than the traditional barn conversions or new stainless steel and glass builds that a lot of the spoons are, and benefits from a wooden interior with plenty of alcove seating areas.
However it is a bit grubby and in need of a bit of TLC and there was definitely a stale odour apparent on entering on Saturday lunchtime.
But the beers were good, 9 handpumps dispensing a real cider as well as Loddon Beers from the Oxford Brewer, and the couple of Loddon Ales I tried were very good.
