A new discovery for me hidden away in a relatively quite back street but not far from the chaos of Tottenham Court Road. Both bars were open and it's very much a timewarp situation, you could be in a bar in the 1960s or 70s, it has that feel. just keg as mentioned, a few Spanish, in name if not origin, lagers, keg London Pride and of course Guinness, BrewDog Punk IPA for the more modern visitor, Budvar and Budvar Dark, the latter being a fine drop. It won't be my only visit here.

My first visit to this bizarre drinking den tucked away in a side street. Two floors, downstairs showing the football and upstairs with some extremely well oiled and eclectic drinkers messing with the jukebox. Said jukebox seems to reject most pound coins and some songs are skipped but it still trundles on. Budvar Dark and keg London Pride were the best options on the bar. Don't come here for the ale but its unique atmosphere and range of interesting characters.

Great after hours drinking den - although its hard to know quite how long it is open to - as google maps listing doesnt match what the bouncers say.
Managed to blag my way in just after 11pm on a Friday and they seemed to be calling last orders at midnight.
An upper bar and a packed subterrean bar - where there was a great atmosphere and it was packed.
Stuck with the keg and Budvar Dark served in the correct glass.
Will go again, now I know where it is.
Assuming the bouncers let me in!

I also have not been here for a decade or two since my younger days of visiting the 100 Club but were dragged along here for pre gig refreshments by female friends who wanted a glass of wine and assured me there would be beer worth drinking (which was not in line with my remembrances).
And I am pleased to say that virtually nothing has changed from the reviews below. It’s still a fairly grubby two bar place that gives all the pretence of needing a good clean, the cracking juke box is still there and as it was a warm evening and the majority of drinkers had spilled out to block Hanway Street. I largely put this down to the fact that the toilets are also still diabolical and as well as the risk of falling in them the gents were producing such a pong to classify as a double pegger and after 15 minutes in the downstairs bar we joined the hordes in Hanway Street to get some air.
One positive point was they now have a couple of craft beers including Meantime London Pale Ale as well as the usual ubiquitous Spanish lagers.
Not a place I would make a special journey for, but for the few times I have to go to the hell hole that is Oxford Street, it remains a good way of escaping that madness for a period of time

We used to frequent this place too many times to recall in the late '80s and early '90s and what a hoot. On warm summer evenings drinkers would spill out onto Hanway Street virtually blocking it. It was run by two elderly Spanish wrestlers(?) - their photos adorned the walls - and the price of drinks would vary throughout the evening; no two rounds would cost the same.
The two-floor bar is very cramped and the men's loo was diabolical - so narrow that you'd risk ending up in the urinal if someone passed you. However, it did have a certain charm and today looks unchanged.

This is a small Spanish place with two bars that are very relaxed, although it has seen better days and the gent's toilet is an abomination. This all probably adds to the good atmosphere of the bar as the posers that frequent most pubs in this area wouldn't be seen dead in here.
As is to be expected there are all kinds of foreign currency stuck to the walls behind the bar and all the staff that I met were Spanish and very friendly with it. The jukebox has many great tunes on it and the other customers seemed to have the same sort of taste in music as myself which was handy.
There is a selection of premium lagers alongside John Smiths, Guinness and Strongbow.
This is a grubby place, but I thought it had a certain charm and would visit again.

Used to be owned by 2 brothers, one was a boxer. Apparently, they brought over the Gaggia coffee machine. Used to have spanish tourist gifts, including a wicker donkey. Now changed hands.
