One of a number of 'Blue Posts' boozers in this part of town, this is a small corner pub with a simple single room set up. The interior is bare boarded throughout and has a stripped out feel to it, with high tables and stools around two sides but no other seating. The windows are probably the pub's strongest point, with an etched glass band at the top, above a nice stained glass row which has a mix of modern plain panes and a few modern etched ones. The bar has an angular dark wood counter with a modern bar back and canopy, both of which work quite well in context. A nice tiled fireplace stands on the end wall with a plain mirror above it and a TV screen to one side showing muted live football with a mixed soundtrack playing over the top. Stairs to the rear, behind the bar, have been lined with old adverts and whisky mirrors and lead up to a first floor overspill seating area, which I failed to explore. Being in Central London, everyone was obviously stood outside, with ample pavement seating available along both sides of the pub.
Three Greene King beers were available on handpull - IPA, London Glory and False Nine - with the latter in reasonable shape and served to me by one of the friendly bar team. The pub seemed really busy when I passed by early in the evening, but returning a couple of hours later, the crowds had dispersed and it had a much more relaxed feel.
I've been in a few of the Blue Posts pubs and have to say that whilst they are all distinctly different from one another, they all have one thing in common, inasmuch as they are all pretty unmemorable. This place seemed like a decent enough example of a Central London, post-work watering hole and three operational handpulls isn't a bad return in the city post-pandemic, but Soho has many superior boozers that I'd recommend checking out ahead of this place.

It's not clear how much is 'original' and how much is phoney, but this little corner pub has a satisfyingly woody interior, with a nice ceiling and lots of trimmings like the windows and glasswork. Quite friendly too, and I was variously directed to the additional seating upstairs or offered a seat at a table by the bar staff and customers. Did I look that much in need of a sit down? Sadly just IPA and Abbot on handpump, and mostly mainstream craft stuff, but not a bad pub.

Another late 19th century rebuild and one of at least nine former and current pubs by this name in W1.
It’s quite small inside, hence the exclusively tall metal topped furniture. The bar appears modern, with a wire rack gantry; the bar back is modern wood. The walls are half height dark field panelled, with a decent wood surround to the fireplace. The floor is bare boarded and lighting comes from modern glass shaded lamps hanging from the white panelled ceiling. There are very attractive bowed windows and pretty etched glass clerestory windows above stained and leaded panels. Quite loud yacht rock played over the stereo and customers seemed to be office workers’
A friendly barmaid stood sentinel behind pumps dispensing GK IPA and Landlord, at a very pricey £2.90 a half and nice it was too.
This isn’t a bad little place, but it’s a bit lacking in imagination, is a little too noisy and the choice of beer is mundane.

Hard to tell the difference between this Greene King pub and a Nicolsons pub internally apart from the rubbish beer selection here.Tried the Gk -ipa from the new branded pumpclip.Nope still same dreadful tasteless beer.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Blue Posts

Compact, traditional, corner pub. Not much space in the main bar area, but with it's large windows it has quite an airy feel. However, there is also another small lounge/dining area bar (but, be warned, no real ale) upstairs. Now has three handpumps in operation, offering IPA, its 'house' bitter and 1799 (£3.85) on my latest visit. Overall, one of Greene King's better central London houses (and the beer is well kept).

Roger Button left this review about The Blue Posts

The Blue Posts appears to be a pub name largely confined to Central London with 5 within a relatively local area (although there is one in Yorkshire). The source of the name seems to be open to conjecture with theories ranging from representing hunting boundaries or simply that they helped identify buildings in the days before door numbers. Whatever is correct, the wild deer have been replaced by tourists and postmen now look for No 18 than the blue posts that are no longer blue anyway.

Dating from 1736, this particular “Post” does have an element of charm although it must be said that its somewhat compact interior doesn’t make it the most comfortable place to visit at peak times with little in the way of seating or anywhere to park your pint. The interior is traditional style with the best features is probably the glasswork with the etched windows (sadly some now replaced with plain glass) being topped off with a series of small patterned arches. Upstairs is a separate room with its own bar and centrepiece fireplace and whilst not particularly spacious, it is probably a little bigger than the main bar and certainly less hectic.

The beers weren’t too adventurous, just the 2 Greene King ales on my visit - IPA and London Glory, the latter a bit pricey at £3.50 but was in excellent condition.

The pub can apparently count the Beatles among its former customer base (Brian Epstein had an office next door to the Palladium round the corner) and whilst I didn’t spot any a-listers on my visit, the place was quite vibrant albeit most pubs are around Soho on a Friday evening. At the right time the place is worth a quick pint and could have potential with better beers but with so many pubs in close proximity, it is hard to mark it out as anything essential.

Was back in the Carnaby Street area on Sunday visiting other establishments and decided, purely on the grounds of research, to visit this Blue Posts again to see if my last experiences could be improved upon.
Was the first time to actually visit in daylight and this pub grew on me a bit more, especially as I could see properly the Victorian glasswork on this 18th Century Grade II listed building.
And also, on this hottest day of the year by far, the outside tables and chairs were an excellent spot to sit and have a pint whilst watching the world go by.
But unfortunately that pint has to be GK ales, and of the two handpumps, one was reverse clipped just leaving the IPA which also wasn’t a brilliant pint.
So nice building and a good place for an Al Fresco pint if you can get one of the outside seats, but there remains far superior places for a beer in the near vicinity.

Unremarkable corner boozer with only two unremarkable GK ales which were particularily average. There are a lot better pubs in Soho than this one and, come to think of it there is better Blue Posts in Soho as well

This is a smallish little corner pub. Only Abbott and GKIPA on handpump. The GKIPA tasted like it always does. It has some interesting looking leaded lights at the top of the bay windows that look like original features. If they are not original then they are remarkably good reproductions.
This is a fairly unremarkable pub that is probably not worth the effort of seeking out, but OK for a pint if you happen to be passing, although there are better places within easy walking distance.

This is a very small boozer with an upstairs area (I did not visit) and some seating outside with ample standing room. Greene King IPA and Abbott Ale were available from the friendly barmaid as well as some standard lagers.

It was very busy on my visit so I didn't stay long, but it would have probably been more enjoyable if I could have got a table.
