A repeat visit finds a nice thatched and whitewashed pub with a welcoming atmosphere and a good food trade. There is a large tabled patio area to the front. Ales on draught were Oakham Citra, Adnams Ghostship, Bass and Grainstore Ten Fifty and no complaints about condition.

Interesting looking building, with its large steep triangular thatched roof. A bit raw on the décor here, from reading below it sounds it was taken a over a little while back and a strip-out occurred. Nevertheless, some of the older elements remain such as the heavy timber beams and it is a lively local with well-trained staff and friendly punters. Four ales on; Bass, Oakham JHB (excellent shape – possibly the best beer of the day), Nobby's Bitter and Adnams Ghost Ship. Lacks a little something to lift it to the higher scoring echelons, but maybe that will come in time.

Following a lengthy period of general decline with a pubco, this old thatched pub has now been take over by caring local hands and is bursting into new life following a major refurbishment. Several nicely furnished rooms lead off the main bar area, with tables outside at the front. Beers usually Adnams Ghost Ship, Abbot, Doom bar and a local guest. Food promised shortly. One to watch for the future.
