This is a large detached corner pub with a patio area and a beer garden. It looks like a former coaching inn. The pub is in white render and has what appears to have a nice Georgian style cottage at its heart, with a central entrance flanked by rounded sash windows and with three square sash windows above. It has been extended several times.
The interior has a couple of rooms, with a central island serving bar, but the lounge was in darkness so i could'nt see that. The bar has a pool table and a dart board. It is in white, coffee and wallpapered walls, with a white ceiling (part beamed) and patterned carpet. There is a piano in the corner and a few mirrors on the walls. The TV was silent with some quiz programme on and the music was general and at a decent level. The service was fine and there were a few friendly locals in chatting about the Olympic torch coming through the village.
Beer; no real ale so usual keg stuff along with Chestnut MILD - which wasn't actually on, so i had a Guinness, which was OK.
This is a perfectly nice and friendly local pub, which sadly lacks real ale for my personal taste.
