A pub/restaurant situated between two streets and having an entrance off both. The rear entrance is somewhat plain - being in brick with a projecting upper window. The front entrance is 'posher', being in white, with a large sash window frontage and also having a projecting upper window. The interior is spread over a couple of floors, with a mezzanine level too. Really, it all feels set out for dining - the food being very good (but not cheap), as was the service. The ground floor is divided into two areas and is in white, brick and wood floor. The upper floor has its own bar and is in white and green. A general mix of old prints and pictures adorned the walls. I didnt see a TV, or hear any piped music. The place was really busy, mainly catering to the tourist's food needs, although a few people were in that were just drinking. Beer; Everard's Tiger, Black Sheep Bitter, Bateman's XB and a decent Hopback Cherry Diamond were on handpull. Overall, a happy enough stop-off, but not a place i could stay at all night.

Real Ale Ray left this review about Wig & Mitre

Well worth a visit, not to be mistaken for a restaurant as you are welcome to call in for a drink and you still enjoy the pub feel, even though it is set out for dining. The main restaurant is upstairs, the main entrance is on the Steep Hill. There is a shop front sized lounge, the bar is situated in the middle and a larger lounge area to the rear. Three ales on handpump, the local ale Tom Woods Lincoln Gold was excellent. Mrs Ale also enjoyed a very good rump steak. Staff were friendly and helpful, will defo call again.
