Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Morning Star
Attractive old pub with a relatively compact L-shaped bar, and the sort of traditional look that one would expect. Very warming real log fire in operation. Doom Bar, Boltmaker, Proper Job, Shine On from Milestone, Ossett's White Rat and Pheasantry BB (£2.50, half) being served from the six handpumps.

A high plateau pub, presumably attracting a well-heeled crowd, judging by the McClaren parked outside; the eagle eyed will have spotted the old Mann’s brewery George & Dragon motif above the sign frame.
I went for the Ossett White Rat (£1.30 a half) and very nice too.
This is a must-visit Lincoln pub.

A very nice smallish back street local with a main bar you enter into, then a smaller snug area to the left and a larger room space through an arch to the right. Very nice traditional decor and one not blighted by loud music or fruit machines and the two small flat screen TVs in each of the side areas were turned off during our visit. All six ale pumps in operation with the range described by the two reviewers below and I went for the Ossett White Rat, prompting the landlady to comment that the locals had passed comment that it was a good one, and they were not wrong, and it was served in excellent condition also.
Yes, I agree one for decent ale and conversation and I wouldn’t hesitate to return to this one.

I really liked this pub, traditional in so many ways and with a lively and friendly landlady .You enter into the tap room with a few seats opposite the bar,to the left a real fire kicking out some good heat ,a tiled floor and bench seating in crimson velour,to the right a lounge area ,while behind the bar is a charming snug with small banquettes. There were a few regulars in on this Friday lunchtime visit .
The ale selection was Doom Bar ,St Austell Proper Job,TT Boltmaker,Milestone Shine On,Osset White Rat (NBSS 4)and Pheasantry Best.2025 GBG entry fully deserved.
I would most certainly return and spend a lot longer in this homely boozer next time compared to this short crawl stop.

A good locals' pub with several rooms and, on this visit, a roaring open fire. The ales seemed very well kept with the range being Milestone Shine On, Pheasantry Best Bitter, Ossett White Rat, TT Boltmaker, Proper Job, and Doom Bar bringing up the rear.

Only a quick visit at the end of a long day on my bike, but I'd been here before with a Luton Town friend and not written a review. I must admit to being encouraged to return because the late Alan Winfield listed it among his favourite five pubs. As described by others, there are six hand pumps on the fairly small bar counter, with a mix of nationally recognised brands (Doom Bar, Proper Job and Boltmaker) and a selection from three regionally popular breweries (Castle Rock, Welbeck Abbey and Milestone). I went for Welbeck Abbey Red Feather which was in very good nick (NBSS 3.5). Even just this short distance away from the cathedral it's clear that this is a pub for locals and beer drinkers rather than tourists.

The Morning Star is a locals boozer where the entrance opens straight onto the L-shaped bar counter that supports standard and premium keg alongside six hand pumps that were drawing Sharp’s Doom Bar, At Austell’s Proper Job, TT Boltmaker, Milestone’s Shine On, Brew York’s Calmer Chameleon and Welbeck’s Red Feathers. The seating to the left, right and rear was fairly busy during my recent Thursday evening visit. The air was full of friendly chatter, no music or televisions. The service was polite and I liked it in here so I’d return without fuss.

A proper locals local. The bar is straight in front of you as you enter with seating areas to the left and right. A fairly pedestrian range of beers on the 6 handpumps, but my pint was in good nick. Full description of the inside by Soup Dragon below.

A straightforward locals place. The main room runs alongside the bar and there is a small snug/back bar as well. Mint green walls, quarry tile flooring and pictures of old Lincoln on the walls. Six pumps all on, a pretty safe national selection in Sharps Doom Bar, Wells Bombardier, GK Ruddles, Exmoor Christmas, Jennings Cumberland and Timothy Taylor Golden Best (fine). Mature local clientele. It was a decent little place, though perhaps I’d been spoilt by accidentally doing what turned out to be the best two pubs in the city one after the other at the crawl’s start. 7.5

Another great local pub, a one roomer with 5 national beers including a sublime Bass. Not exciting to beer nerds but a fine pub nonetheless.
