After some distinctly average pubs, we were glad to find a pub that was a bit more to our liking.
Located on the High Street of what is a fairly large and continually expanding village, this Greene King pub felt much more like a proper local where drinkers outnumber diners. Although that may well have been due to our mid-afternoon arrival time.
Greene King IPA & Abbot are the regular ales. Guests were Hardy & Hanson's Scrum Down, Black Sheep Finisher & Abbeydale Daily Bread.
There are two adjoining rooms - a cosy space to the front of the pub and a more traditional bar area to the rear. Between the two, a staircase can be found lined with pictures of dogs. This leads up to the toilets.

The Lion and Royal is a bare brick built pub that is on Navenbys nice looking high street.
Once inside there was a large room that ran across the front of the pub this room was carpeted and had normal tables and chairs, the room looked a bit bare to me,there were no pumps on the bar facing the entrance they were round the corner in the bar area which had a stone floor.
There were four real ales on the bar i had a drink of Fox Beer Co Mr Toad and this was a decent enough drink the other beers were Kempsey White Bear, Tetley bitter and GK Abbot.
The pub had been opened out and has i said before it seemed a bit too bare for my liking.
