A detached 17th century building in whitewashed stone, with several extentions. There is a patio to the side. It is said to have been a pub since 1701 and the central core of the building seems to be a straight farmhouse type of build, with several chimney stacks and with a steep pitched roof. Looks nice.
The interior has a front room which is in red and cream walls, with some wood panel, a white ceiling with moulded cornice and a blue carpet. There is a large stone fireplace feature and a TV, which wasn't on. This room is nicer for dining. We didn't eat here so i can't comment on that, but the menu is very reasonable. The main room is in the same decor, but with a tile floor and a white and beam ceiling. It too has a nice stone fireplace. There are little areas off to the side that have brick fireplaces and one has a dart board, another a pool table. Prints and drawings are on the walls for interest, as well as a few TVs, one showing the royal festivities. The music was general and quite quiet. The service was fine and the place busy with a good mixed clietele.
Beer; usual tap stuff with Sharpe's Doombar, Abbot Ale and Adnams Diamond Ale, which was decent.
This is a nice traditional pub, with the pub games and real ales. I would definitely pop in again for one.

One of the oldest pubs in Lincoln dating back to 1701. This is a large comfortable and friendly pub and the staff on the day we visited were most welcoming. There were four ales on handpump, I went for the Everards Beacon and found it a very well kept beer. The pub had a rural inn feel about it, which I liked and was very traditional in decor. They also have a good food menu and was not over priced. Will call again.
