The Wheatsheaf has a central bar with counters that served the left and right-hand sides of the pub. I entered the left-hand side to find all the tables taken during a recent Tuesday evening visit. This place seems to be the place to go for the middle aged plus gentlemen of the town. Around the back of the bar is a flagstone seating area where some more customers had congregated. I managed to grab a table in the almost empty smaller right-hand bar. The bar counter supports premium keg alongside Carling and I counted eight hand pumps, five in the left and three in the right, with three in the left being in operation. This is an Everards pub so their Tiger, Old Original and Sunchaser were available. I wasn’t that taken with the Sunchaser, but I think this was taste rather than how it had been kept. No televisions or music, but there was a good chatty atmosphere. I’d revisit if passing.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Wheatsheaf
Lovely looking Everards pub, right by the imposing All Saints Church. The twin-bar interior with a side lounge down a single step on one side doesn't disappoint either, giving the impression of a village hostelry rather than something you might expect in a (admittedly) small town. Apart from that, there was a good selection of six real ales from the brewery's range, split between a total of eight handpumps divided between the opposing counters, and my Golden Hop (£4.50) was excellent.

A nice traditional pub in the backstreets retaining two separate sides. The main bar area has an adjoining room with a stone fireplace and a piano. To the back is a nice glazed room overlooking a surprisingly large garden. The right hand side is a lounge bar, which at time of visit was full of twerlies eating lunch. An Everards pub, the beers are mostly theirs with Adnam's Bitter on as a guest. The Old Original was in excellent form. Note it does not stay open all afternoon.

Aged building, and there’s a bit of character here if quite middle class in scope. T shaped inside, a sunken area to the left with a tartan carpet and piano (tuned?), all rather cosy and convivial. 3x Everards beers and Adnams Broadside. My Broadside was very good and was enjoyed sat in a rocking chair. My companions Everards were less stellar however, which took the lustre off things a bit. It’s worth popping in to sample, I think. 6.5

This is an old pub that hasn't been trashed by Everard's but retains two separate rooms with a further area at the rear just before the large garden. I went in the left hand side which has a small bar area and a carpeted area to the left with low tables. This room includes a 1970s Ruddles mirror but the 1974 GBG reveals that this was a Melbourn's house, an old brewery in Stamford.
There are five hand pumps in each bar with an Adnam's guest turned and Everard's Beacon, Original, Tiger and Sunchaser.
I went for the Original (£3.70) which was in excellent nick.
This is a fine old pub, my only minor issue with it is that £3.70 for Original is a bit steep compared to other Everard outlets.

The Wheatsheaf is a really nice looking white painted pub that is siuated quite close to an equally nice looking church.
Once inside there was a smart room to the left, this room is squarish in shape with a low beamed ceiling, there was some very comfortable bench seating with small stools and a real fire on the go,there is a smaller drinking area up a few steps to the rear and a seperate lounge to the right.
The pub is an Everards tied house, there were four real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Everards Beacon bitter which was a very nice drink, the other beers were Everards Tiger and Original plus GK IPA.
This is a really comfortble pub that i could settle in for a good session.

No music, tv's or gaming machines. A very comfortable pub this one and extremely well run. Consists of two comfortable lounge bars and beer garden. Traditional fixtures and fittings plus an open fire. This Everards establishment is defo worth a visit.
