A large multi-roomer place which has been modernized a bit and caters for the middle class dining set (the magazines available were somewhat more upmarket than what I’m used to). The overworked barman appeared to be doing every job in the pub which made me wonder. Two ales on, a house bitter which was awful, taken back and taken off, whilst its replacement of Ringwood Boondoggle wasn’t much better. Not much to recommend it here, really.

The Marquiss of Exeter is a nice looking pub from the outside but once inside the pub is a lot different.
Once inside the bar is in a room on the left this room is fairly small and looks a bit too modern for my liking there was also another room on the right but no bar in this, the pub is a lot bigger inside than it looks from the outside towards the rear there is a large restaurant that looks very posh and there is also accomodation at the back of the pub.
We were made welcome enough as drinkers but this is more like a restaurant with a token drinking area,i think the best place to have a drink here is outside.
There were two real ales on the bar i had a drink of Pedigree and this was decent enough the other beer was Brakspear bitter.
