Large hotel. We headed to the lovely wood panelled tap room which was adorned with many shields from various regiments. Friendly barmaid who didn't mince her words about one of Uppingham's other pubs when we mentioned our Rutland Challenge. Some tables were left uncleared but as there was a wedding going on elsewhere in the building the staff were probably distracted. Three ales on; GK Old Golden Hen, Pride and a house bitter brewed by Grainstore, which was fine. We enjoyed it as something a little different. 6.5
