A bit of a walk north from the town centre along a busy, fairly pedestrian unfriendly route, this is a 1930s roadhouse now converted to one of those atrocious family dining “pubs”, a Greene King Hungry Horse on this occasion to add to the beer drinking misery. A multi-space layout with the counter at the rear reached past various dining areas semi divided off the main room. Beyond the servery to the right is a “no under 18s” public bar type area with pool, machines and screens; a second set of toilets and separate entrance are here too. Beer wise there is the usual bunch on low T-bars and solos, halfway along are two then past a pillar three more pulls but only an average Abbot available. We all know what these pseudo pubs are like but please don’t judge me, I did it for the site.
