Old Boots left this review about The Crown
A two bar old pub with a three dimensional pub sign. Traditional lounge and bar I didn’t notice much difference in the furnishings; the right end room being more lounge if I had to guess and was deserted, the left hand one had the customers bantering away. Both bars had four pulls with two in use - London Pride or a middling Bass. The keg choice was limited and a bit standard, Cruzcampo, Madri, Thatchers and the like. Fairly bland grey colour scheme on the tongue and groove, cream walls with old photos plus a screen, juke box and wall mounted scratch card dispenser. Tiles round the counter and maybe original board elsewhere. There’s a collection of whisky drums and boxes above a fireplace containing a wood burner. Beer garden out back and past the toilets is a room with a pool table.

Doesn't look much from the outside but within is a decent honest boozer over a couple of rooms - mid 90s refit is my guess given the style and stain of the wood panelling. No longer an Everards pub – my Bass drank decently (NBSS 3) alongside Pride. Barmaid could have done better at acknowledging my presence in the lounge but that aside, fairly good in the context of MM. 6.5

Two-roomed Everard's local next to the church on a street that was once lined with pubs. But only 3 are still open.
I chose to sit in the main bar to the left as you enter, which had a few locals in. Tiger & Sunchaser were the 2 real ales. My half of Tiger was in good condition.
Not too bad.

A large pub holding a privileged position near the church, consisting apparently of two different sized buildings. The entrance is in the smaller building on the right, which holds the lounge bar and leads through to a beer garden of sorts, really no more than a yard. The larger public bar is to the left. In the lounge I saw two hand pumps, with clips for Everards Beacon Hill and Tiger, but when I asked for the latter, the server went through to the other bar to pour the beer. My half was in good nick and I took it through to the yard to consume. This seems like a friendly and welcoming pub and certainly one to include if doing a circuit of Melton.

I got the impression that the Crown was very much the town local. I arrived here around 11:00 on a Saturday morning to find quite a few already in. It's hard to say what function the two rooms originally had but I went in the larger square front room which is where all the locals were. I noticed a juke box and a TV which was thankfully turned off.
The bar has five hand pumps which had one unused, Bateman's XB, and Everard's Old Original, Tiger & Beacon Hill. I went for the Tiger (£3.20) which was in excellent nick.
Everard's dont seem to have duff pubs and I thought this was another good one.

Two roomed Everards pub handy for the bus stop for the 19 bus running between Oakham and Nottingham. Popular and friendly serving a range of the Everards beers. We chose Everards Tiger Green Bullet which was in very good condition and very enjoyable. Could of spent longer here but had to catch the bus.

Got a good welcome when visiting this pub. This Everards pub serves some very well kept ales and also good food. This two roomed pub is very comfortable, also has an open fire. Staff friendly and the manager told me you enter as a stranger and leave as a friend. I went for the Everards Tiger. Will defo return

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Crown
Everards pub retaining its traditional layout, but sensitively modernised and one bar now more of a dining area. Also has a skittle alley, the 'Church View' function room and a nice little patio beer garden at the back. Four real ales on handpump - Original, Tiger, Beacon (£2.70) and the seasonal Whakatu. Very welcoming, tidyly maintained, and well worth seeking out.
