Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Admiral Nelson
The exterior of this side-street pub has been given a fresh look both outside and within the two-room interior featuring all the usual amenities. As a Wells & Co house, it was no surprise to find Anchorman on one of the three handpumps on the main part of the bar counter, with the Half the World Away amber ale as another Brewpoint beer and Bass as a guest. Later on, I also noted Tribute on another pair of handpumps around the corner. Friendly welcome.

A traditional two bar pub a short way from the main town and feeling quite the backstreet boozer with a chatty landlady to boot. Two Brewpoint beers plus Bass, I tried the Brewpoint Anchorman which was ok without being particularly notable in any way which seemed to be a theme in this town generally.
A nice pub that would benefit from slightly more interesting beer but a worthy stop off all the same.

A very short walk from the High Street, this smart looking pub is well worth a visit, though it is not in the new edition of the Good Beer Guide. This was our fourth pub of the day and the beer was the best so far. Two Charles Wells Brewpoint beers were on, flanking the red triangle trade mark of Bass. Their 4.1% IPA, Anchorman, was one that I had come across on a visit to Cambridge, and in so far as I remembered the beer, it was similarly unmemorable this time. The "amber ale" Just a World Away 4.5% was what some people call a boring brown beer, but in my opinion it was well made and pleasantly drinkable. We were made welcome here and had an enjoyable visit.

Backstreet pub a few minutes from the centre. Retains two rooms via a porch. Larger lounge to right with a mix of padded pew and banquette seating along with whacky wildlife wallpaper on the chimney breast, all done-up in a fairly tasteful - if mildly feminine - manner. Three ales, on St Austell Tribute, Brewpoint Anchorman and Bass (NBSS 3). Spent a few minutes chatting with the friendly landlady. It is also GBG listed.

Good Beer Guide 2024 Entry. A back street boozer about 10mins walk from the town. Alas, the 2024 guide says they did food, so a little disappointed that not even cobs were on offer. If this was the West Midlands - a pub like this would have definitely had cobs.
What they did have was Tribute, Bass and probably a couple more. Two roomer, with rugby on the TV and customers interested in it.
I didnt quite stay long enough to see if they would swap offer for the FA Cup Final.
I needed a cob.
