Strongers . left this review about The Phantom

Outside the front of the Phantom, in what was probably once a car park, are some cobbles alongside a patio area that sits around astroturf on which some picnic tables sit. Bifold doors along the rear open onto a couple of pool tables found in an extension to the right-hand side of the pub. Inside is a long central staple-shaped serving counter that faces seating across the front of the pub that is partly separated from the bar area by come supporting walls. To the left of the counter is more seating and a projector screen that was airing muted Sky Sports while some random background music played off the jukebox during a recent midweek afternoon visit. to the right of the counter is another projector and some high tables that run to the aforementioned pool tables in the right rear extension. Standard, premium and mainstream craft keg products were available from the polite barman when he eventually showed his face. The is a run-of-the-mill high street boozer that has some stiff competition from the Blue Monkey Brewery just around the corner, so I’ll not be returning.

Old Boots left this review about The Phantom

Yup you guessed from the name it’s a dreary drinking barn for the kids, no cask of course, disengaged staff. Usual rubbish on keg, even the spirits are mainly boring dross. Loads of screens and machines and of course music. They charge a massive premium on halves, 55p on a nasty Camden Hells. Little to recommend the place.

One large through room with several real ales but nothing above 4.5% ABV. Nothing special about this place.

Real Ale Ray left this review about The Phantom

A typical high street pub, mainly promoting budget meals, with menus littering every available space. The pub is modern in décor and the pub was clean and tidy on our visit. They had five ales and one cider to choose from, so we went for Cottage Resolution and Everards Sunchaser. This pub serves a purpose, but wouldn't be my sort of pub to linger.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Phantom

It's a Scream (as in the pubco), so the worldly wise will know what to expect. Despite being quite a nice-looking historic building from the front, the interior has been stripped of almost all its character to just leave basic decor in garish colours and some graffiti-style illustrations on the toilet doors. Two pool tables, a 'Max Grab' machine like you might find in a seaside amusement arcade and music videos on the TV screens. It does also have outside seating in a patio area at the car park end. No real ale, so just keg Tetleys (at a remarkable £1.25 for a pint) and a few bottled ciders in addition to the usual lagers and Guinness. Very much aimed at the student population (except for a small area rather implausibly laid up for those looking for a festive easting experience).
