Surprisingly jumbo pub given the backstreet location. Two rooms from a porch, the large lounge is gloomy and smelt faintly of old farts. Suspect it was probably quite impressive 30 years ago but half-arsed refurbs have killed it and it felt rather depressing. Local radio and one other local for company. One pump that looked like the clip was turned - too late did I realise that it was actually on; "the front keeps falling off the clip" said the barmaid as I enquired as to its availability whilst the keg Theakston Mild was being pulled (which tasted like it had been on since the previous year).

The Black Horse is situated just off the town centre on the busy sycamore street.
This is a corner pub that looks a bit different with its green tiled roof.
I first went in this pub on 27 may 1985 when this was a Shipstones tied house and there was a very nice drink of Shipstones bitter or mild to be had here.
I am not sure what beers this pub now has on as i did'nt go in here when i took the photo.
