Modernised pub but done in a pretty reasonable and comfy manner. The front bar remains for drinking with a bay window and carpeted floor. Further back is a dog-leg diner. Two cask, with Doom Bar and a very good Theakston Quencher (NBSS 4) available. The best pub in the village, by a nose.

The Axe and Square is a smallish stand alone pub that is in the middle of Countesthorpe.
Once inside the pub we went in the bar which was at the front of the pub,this was a decent room with a tiled floor,bench seating and small stools,there was also a dart board in this room.
To the left there was a larger room that was a lounge this room looked quite smart and to the rear of this room there was a smallish raised dining area with the tables laid out for diners.
There were three real ales on the bar and i had a drink of Bass and this was a decent drink the other beers were John Smiths cask and GK IPA.
I thought this was a decent enough pub to have a few drinks in.
