Mildly confusing to enter as the original door is bricked up despite the canopy remaining and a side door with a 'welcome' sign was locked. Having finally gained entrance via the rear I found a comfy pub with quality carpet, lengthy banquettes and a bit of wallpaper. Gently busy throughout. Cobs available. Four pumps with three on - St Austell Tribute, Theako OP and a magnificent Bass (NBSS 4.5) that the locals were caning; so good I stayed for two. The landlady seemed slightly non-plussed when I made a point of saying how good the Bass was; trust me, it was one of the best I have had. The local CAMRAs do not Guide this place, instead preferring Polly’s. On the basis of this visit, they should both be in.

The Black Horse was a Bass tied house when i first went in it,ime not sure what beer it has on the bar but it does'nt look promising with banners saying John Smiths smooth for £1.90 a pint.
