Brainy Pool left this review about The Crown Hotel
old pub tucked away between an industrial estate and open countryside. Despite looking rather quaint from outside it has been very harshly modernised in shades of grey and feels like a town pub. Separate pool room and conservatory dining, well run but feels a bit clinical and corporate for a free house. A few local ales on but it’s not the CAMRA favourite it used to be, still nice for a pint on a sunny Sunday though.

Up to 6 excellent cask ales mainly from micro-breweries.Continental draught beers & world bottled beers.Excellent freshly perepared, home-cooked food served in the restaurant & bar, booking recommended. 2 function rooms catering for & hosting a variety of events. 10 en-suite bedrooms. CAMRA multi award winner. Outside decked sun terrace. Two large car parks. Home to several music & car clubs. Lively quiz every Thursday. Friendly owners & staff. There is also a very good locals trade, the locals are friendly & approachable. Turn off the A49 onto Avondale Ave from Standish centre and continue for 1 mile, just under the railway bridge, or turn into Platt Lane from the A5106 just near Kilhey Court. You won't be dissapointed.
