This ancient country pub recently had a few years of closure with a very uncertain future, with the estate agent even advertising it as a “lovely family home”. It has been saved by Bolton’s Escape Brewery and given a smart modernisation inside whilst retaining its olde worlde character. Bar to the left, cosy carpeted area to the right with the old roaring fireplace. 4 of their beers on cask plus some unusual craft keg options, local pork and meat pies available too. My pint of their pale ale was reasonably priced at £3.50. It still remains a cosy wet-led village and with the beer range, it’s probably suburban Wigan’s best pub now. And nice to see a small brewery growing in these very challenging times.

The price of beer can be expensive compared to the area the pub is in.
However, the beer is good, and the real ale can be highly recomended.

Always a warm welcome in the Colliers Arms.Only one real ale on the bar usually but a really good pint is guaranteed.
