Re-opened at the end of 2017, this has had a gastro makeover and the emphasis is on the dining side of things although a small bar is semi-shielded from the tables all set for eating. You enter into an oblong room which had fireplaces at either end - it's clear this was more than one room at some stage. Standard wooden tables and chairs with some leather bench seating and third-height wood panelling running around the periphery, save for the far right-hand wall which has bookshelf wallpaper and an upcycled tarnished mirror. The bar faces the entrance semi-screened by a pane of glass. Two ales from four stumps (two unclipped) offered Rebellion IPA and Timothy Taylor. After imparting £4.30 for a pint of the Rebellion, a noticed a whiff of vinegar before my first sip. Highlighting this, the young barman checked the barrel and confirmed my suspicions. He suggested the Landlord or offered to rack a new barrel (Young's Bitter) which I acquiesced with. This was £4, so I ended up 30p in credit and he did check with me a minute or two later to see if it was OK (it was), although a minus point was the fact that the Rebellion clip wasn't reversed thereafter. A small clutch of locals at the bar on my Sunday evening visit, so it's a popular return to form.
